We often joke about “The Miracle of Depreciation,” which is a force that brings once-unobtainable cars into the reach of the common man. That’s never been more true than with this sleek Jaguar. Once, it was a near-$50,000 flagship for Jaguar’s lineup; today it’s available for 25% of that!
True, many of these cars were mishandled, abused and trashed years ago, but this one—with only 51K miles—is still youthful and healthy because of pampered ownership.
A big part of the XJS’ appeal was the aluminum overhead-cam V12 engine that powered Jaguar’s best models for twenty years. Very reliable—if cared for—smooth and powerful, they are a joy to drive. The XJS models were the top-of-the-line Jaguars, built as a closed coupe and the open convertible like this one, which was kept by a local enthusiast in his car barn for years and purchased by us as a consequence of his downsizing.
Fitted with optional chrome alloy wheels, a power-operated Haartz-cloth top (with a heated glass rear window) and still-luxurious Saddle leather interior, it is a really classy way to enjoy summer drives. Complete with owner’s books, spare keys, top cover and even the original spare tire is still brand new!
Our shop has just installed new tires, given it a tune and servicing plus some brake work to make it ready for your new adventures. Surprisingly priced at only $12,500 (!)
