Our 1966 Porsche 912 Electric Conversion was a classic 'Barn Find.' Our team located the car in a storage shed in Longmont, Colorado. The owner had loved the car for many, many years, but tucked it away in 1992. We completed the transaction and brought the car to our shop.
Our expert mechanic got the engine running, so that's great news. However, we have decided that this is a perfect candidate for a classic electric car. It returned from a Porsche expert who completed a new suspension on the car. This will be the ideal setup for when we install a series of Tesla batteries throughout the car along with a Hyper9 motor.
The high torque and acceleration power from the electric motor requires a stout suspension and bigger brakes. That's what we have now.
Bodywork to fix some rust as well as a new panel or two was completed. Paint is complete and now we are sanding and finalizing the finish.
Our electric kit recently arrived from Electric GT. Stay tuned as we dive in and start assembling this drivetrain.
