1951 MG TD Roadster

$16,850

This lovely US-spec TD was treated to a comprehensive professional restoration some years ago that included new wood body framing and thorough rebuilding of the suspension, brakes, fuel & electrical systems plus new chrome plating. It was finished in the 1951-only color of Autumn Red with correct Beige leather, has matching top & side curtains plus a tonneau cover. Since restoration, the car has resided, little used, in dry Texas & Colorado in the hands of one lady owner for 34 years!
The overhauled engine was dressed up with period extras that included a cast aluminum rocker cover and a very rare matching finned alloy pushrod cover. It is the original XPAG engine that was fitted to the car when new and has been recently tuned & serviced. Desirable extras include a reduction gear starter, stainless exhaust & cooling system overhaul. Chrome low-restriction air filters replace the original oil bath type, but most original parts come with the car. Even an original owner’s book is in the glove box!
Further enhancements include wind wings, chrome luggage rack, badge bar with period ‘Flame Thrower’ driving lights and an added water temp gauge. The car runs, shifts & drives very well and is a hoot to cruise around town. TDs tend to fall into three general types these days, starting with rough, cheap, needy project cars on one extreme and show-restored princesses that approach $40K for the best ones on the other. Cars like this one are the sweet spot, with a nicely-matured restoration and with no pending needs, generally sell on Bring A Trailer close to twenty grand.
This one is a great opportunity to get the whole car for half the restoration cost and be enjoying it next weekend, not next year. Bargain priced for a quick sale in the heart of driving season!
