1955 Mercedes-Benz 190SL

Video

This incredibly original 1955 model in Ivory that spent much of its life down in the warm Mexico sun.

While the car does show some signs of wear in the convertible top, engine bay and a few missing trim pieces, it has been well loved as you can see in that interior.

The interior on the Benz is all-original leather optioned in the “Natural” color.

From new, this leather had a saddle / beige color to it.

Over the years the leather has obviously seen some dirt and wear, but the entire interior shows almost zero signs of cracking or holes.

Even the leather covered dashboard doesn’t show too many signs of shrinking or tightening in the Mexican sun.

Surprisingly, even the rear of the vehicle where the convertible top is stored has its original leather lining and cover.

This is a surprise to many of us in the shop as it’s incredibly rare to see 65-year old leather that doesn’t show ANY signs of cracking.

This classic Mercedes restoration went through disassembly stage.

Then we completed initial bodywork and primer and received its coats of original color.

Next, the engine bay was painted and the engine reinstalled after rebuild. A restored interior and full chrome restoration followed. The result is a brand new 190SL. Simply stunning.
