Delivered new in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the car was bought there two years later by the second owner who later moved with it to Portland, OR.
The car was very well cared for (we have a large file of service records) and was given a bare-metal repaint in its original ‘Gunmetal Gray’ color several years ago.
At the same time the interior was completely redone in the original color plus a new white convertible top was installed.
The car sports a great set of chrome Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels and an original-looking radio with modern bluetooth internals that was recently installed.
It has the popular 4-barrel 312 engine fitted with the dress-up kit that included aluminum valve covers and five new period-correct Coker tires were added last year.
The car is amazingly original and shows no sign of any past accident damage or rust and is the nicest early ’Bird we’ve seen in years.
Our shop did a compression test (very good) and full tune up last year, so the car runs great and has no remaining issues.
The market for these has softened, so while this would have been an $80,000 car a few years ago, today it’s a very attractive opportunity at $49,500.
